You never pay for a lawn you haven't seen.
Most of our "guarantee" isn't a policy - it's how the product is built. The rest is a promise we fund from our own commission.
Built into the mechanics
- Photo before payment. A mower can't mark a job done without a photo. You see it before anything is charged.
- You approve, then you pay. Your card is charged only when you tap approve - or 48 hours after the photo arrives if you don't respond, so mowers aren't left hanging. We email you 24 hours before that happens.
- The bid is the price. A mower can't change it on the doorstep. If a job is bigger than described they ask through the app before starting, and nothing changes unless you accept.
- Reviews only from paid jobs. Nobody can review a mower they didn't actually hire through Mowie. No fake stars, and we don't remove a review for being negative.
- Verified ABN, Stripe-verified identity, a phone call. Every mower has passed an ABN check and Stripe's identity verification, and a person has spoken to them, before they can see your lawn or bid.
- Reliability tracking. No-shows and late jobs cost mowers their place in the queue. Repeat offenders are removed - with written reasons and a chance to respond, because that's fair too.
If something's wrong
Don't approve. Tap raise an issue, add a photo, tell us what happened. Then:
- The mower is offered a return visit within 48 hours to make it right - usually the fastest fix.
- If that doesn't work, we apply a make-good credit so you pay less, or nothing if the job wasn't done.
- Already approved or auto-approved? You can still raise an issue for 7 days. The mower keeps their pay for work they did; anything we refund comes from Mowie's side.
- Damage? Send photos both ways. Within 2 business days we give you the mower's contact and insurance details so you can claim, and a person (not a bot) reviews it and decides.
Make-good credits and post-approval refunds come out of our commission, never the mower's pay for work they did properly. That keeps both sides honest.
What we're not
We're a marketplace, not the mowing company, and we're not an insurer. Mowers are independent businesses with their own obligations under the Australian Consumer Law - our credits are goodwill on top of your rights against them, not a replacement. The Insured badge means the mower has given us a current public liability certificate; we check the document and its expiry date, not the policy with the insurer. See the terms for the legal version.
