Cardinia Shire Council	Cardinia owns the nature strip but asks residents to keep it mowed, weeded and free of rubbish, leaves, sticks and bark, level with no trip hazards and tidy at the edges. Grass can be changed without a permit as long as it stays under 300 mm, nature-strip plants may not exceed 600 mm, and street trees belong to the council's arborists. The green-lid food and garden bin is optional and fortnightly: $108.70 a year for 120 L or $138.70 for 240 L (2025-26), grass clippings accepted, 70 kg limit.	12 Sep 2026
City of Casey	Casey owns the nature strips but says urban nature strips are the property owner's or occupier's to manage and maintain; it publishes no grass-height figure, and overgrown grass is covered by the Casey Community Local Law 2025, in force from 2 March 2026. Council prunes urban street trees on a 3-year cycle. The food and garden bin has a green lid and is emptied fortnightly, standard for all residential properties by 2026.	12 Sep 2026
City of Greater Dandenong	Greater Dandenong requires residents to maintain the nature strip regularly and recommends the grass be kept to no more than 100 mm; the council mows or waters a strip only where there is a public-safety risk. Food and garden organics go in the 240 L green-lid bin, collected fortnightly; the garden component is $121 a year in the standard bin options.	12 Sep 2026
City of Monash	Monash owns the nature strip and expects the owner or occupier to keep it maintained; an overgrown strip can be reported to the council with a photo, and its Horticulture and Community Amenity teams follow it up. Anything planted on the strip needs a permit, stays under 50 cm and leaves a 1.4 m footpath zone clear; every tree on a street or strip is a council tree, and only the council prunes it. The green-lid 240 L food and garden bin has gone out weekly since August 2022, with landfill and recycling fortnightly, and the standard bin is covered by the rates waste charge.	12 Sep 2026
