Because it was built in one push, South Morang's lawns are alike: a small front lawn with a nature strip, a rectangle out the back, a standard-width side gate, and grass that went in as rolled kikuyu or couch when the house was handed over. Twenty years on, the kikuyu has thatched up where it was cut too high for too long, and the couch has thinned where the fences throw shade. Neither is hard to fix, but it changes what a mower quotes for the first visit.

The Plenty Gorge end - the streets around Hawkstowe and Middle Gorge stations - is hillier and has more bush edge, so there is leaf litter and the odd kangaroo-cropped patch. Plenty Gorge Park keeps the old homesteads, and Carome now has a cafe and a community garden; Hillsview reserve is the other named open space. The flatter streets toward Plenty Road and Westfield Plenty Valley are straightforward push-mower work.

It is City of Whittlesea, so the nature strip is yours to keep mown. The light-green-lid 240 L garden bin went to every house in June 2026 and is emptied fortnightly on rubbish day, so clippings go in it and nothing needs taking away unless you ask for it. It is charged through the rates, not as an extra.
