Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Beaconsfield lawn

  • A farmlet subdivision and a street lot are different jobs; a paddock-sized lawn gets a different machine.
  • Backing onto the Cardinia Creek parkland or the Flora and Fauna Reserve? Say what comes over the fence and whether the rear boundary is fenced.
  • No Cardinia green bin? The bin is opt-in, so choose mulch-mowing or clippings taken away when you list.

Beaconsfield lawn mowing questions

How much does lawn mowing cost in Beaconsfield?+

Our model prices 180 m² of Beaconsfield grass at $100-$145, one mow. Farmlet blocks measure well above that, and the bid is priced from the aerial area of your own lawn, not the suburb figure.

Do I mow the nature strip in Beaconsfield?+

Yes. Cardinia owns it and asks residents to keep it mowed, weeded and tidy at the edges, level with no trip hazards. You can swap the grass without a permit if it stays under 300 mm, plants on it may not pass 600 mm, and the street trees are left to the council. List the strip alongside the lawn and both get done together.

Is Beaconsfield hilly?+

The township sits about 102 m up on Cardinia Creek, with the gullies to the north where gold was found and the foothills that took the orchards. Say on the listing if your own lawn slopes; a sloping lawn is trimmer work at the edges and priced that way.

About Beaconsfield

Bowman selected about 200 acres east of the creek and built an inn for travellers, the inn that is now the Central Hotel. Gold turned up in the gullies to the north in the 1870s and timber getters followed it. The foothills proved right for orchards, and apples and lemons went in. River sand was dug and railed out, campers pitched beside the creek, and the 1896 municipal directory called the place a favourite resort with a 70-room hotel. The school opened in 1890 and the public hall in 1906. The cenotaph at Woods Street and Old Princes Highway dates from 1920, the Montuna golf links north of the township from 1930.

The suburb is built around Cardinia Creek, and the housing came late: 606 people in 1966, 4,198 in 2006 and 6,412 in 2011, as land was subdivided for houses and farmlets. Parkland runs along the creek, and there is remnant vegetation, wetland and bushland, with the Beaconsfield Flora and Fauna Reserve on Beaconsfield-Emerald Road and Berwick Views Wetlands off Fieldstone Boulevard among the reserves; Holm Park Recreation Reserve and the Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve are two more. The township sits about 102 m up. A block on a farmlet subdivision and a street lot are different jobs, so give the lawn area and say whether it slopes toward the creek.

Beaconsfield is Cardinia Shire, immediately east of Berwick. Cardinia owns the nature strip but asks the resident to keep it mowed, weeded and clear of rubbish, leaves, sticks and bark, level with no trip hazards. Grass may be changed without a permit if it stays under 300 mm, and the street trees are the council arborists' business. The garden bin, green lid, food scraps included, is opt-in here and fortnightly: a 120 L bin was $108.70 a year in 2025-26 and a 240 L one $138.70, with grass clippings accepted to a 70 kg limit. Akoonah Park market runs on Sundays.
