About Taylors Hill
The Watervale shops and the state primary opened in 2010, the Taylors Hill shopping centre in 2011, and Gilson College came out from Pascoe Vale in 1987; the population went from 6,541 in 2006 to 19,539 in 2021. So the lawns here are mostly fifteen to twenty years old, past the fragile first summers. A lawn at that age will survive a missed month without looking sick, and then take twice as long to cut.
The ground is the same western clay as the rest of Melton, so the summer instruction is the same: keep the height up so the soil stays shaded, and never scalp it in February. Neighbourhood reserves are dotted through the streets, and a linear reserve and wetland run along a tributary of Kororoit Creek. The suburb is bounded by Gourlay Road, Taylors Road, Overton Lea Boulevard and Hume Drive.
Taylors Hill is City of Melton, and the strip is entirely the resident's: the council does not mow or water nature strips, and it will not repair a strip that vehicles have damaged by parking on it.
