Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Ringwood lawn

  • Say how steep the back is and whether a mower can get down the side. It decides the quote.
  • Autumn leaves: ask for them blown off before the mow, not mulched into the grass.
  • If a tree shades the lawn: buffalo cut high survives it; couch under a gum does not.

Ringwood lawn mowing questions

How much does lawn mowing cost in Ringwood?+

Reckon on $100-$145 a visit if you have 180 m² of lawn. A block that slopes or sits under trees quotes over it; a townhouse near Eastland under.

Whose job is the nature strip in Ringwood?+

Maroondah owns the strip - the land between your boundary and the kerb - and residents must keep it tidy. It cannot be changed without council approval, and an approved planting is the owner's to maintain. Put the strip on your listing.

Does Ringwood have a green bin for clippings?+

Yes. Maroondah's FOGO bin has a lime-green lid, takes food and garden waste, and is collected fortnightly on the alternate week to recycling; general waste is weekly.

About Ringwood

The post-war blocks in Ringwood follow the usual pattern: a front lawn, a nature strip, a driveway and a back yard, and on some streets the back runs down toward the creek or a reserve. The soil is the east's sedimentary loam and drains well. Couch and kikuyu take the open lawns; where an old tree shades the grass, buffalo and fescue hold on and couch does not. Near Eastland and the station, apartments and townhouses have replaced some of the original blocks.

Ringwood Lake is 8.5 hectares of park in the middle of the suburb, Mullum Mullum Creek runs through, and the clock tower dates from 1928. Eastland opened in 1967 and was rebuilt between 2013 and 2016; the station is the junction of the Lilydale and Belgrave lines. Say how far your block falls from front to back and what shades it - a mower here carries a trimmer and a blower and wants to know before quoting.

Ringwood is City of Maroondah. The council owns the nature strip and residents must keep it tidy; it cannot be changed without council approval, and where a planting is approved the ongoing upkeep is the owner's. The council plants thousands of nature strip trees a year. Food and garden waste goes in the lime-green-lid FOGO bin, collected fortnightly on the alternate week to recycling; general waste is weekly.
