About Fraser Rise
The 2021 census counted 9,097 people. Wiyal Primary School opened in 2026 and Springside West Secondary College takes years 7 to 12. Caroline Springs George Cross FC plays Victorian Premier League Division 1 at City Vista Recreation Reserve. The only public transport is bus route 461 between Watergardens station and Caroline Springs, with more services funded in the 2025/2026 State Budget; the Melton Highway links to the Calder Freeway and the Western Freeway reaches the city by way of the Deer Park Bypass and the M80.
A lawn on a street finished in the last couple of years is instant turf over the basalt plain that runs across the whole Melton district toward the Werribee River. Turf in its first two summers is still knitting into the ground beneath it. Keep the blades high until the second autumn; a scalped young lawn on this plain browns off and stays brown until the rain. Say when the turf went down and the mower sets the height from that.
Fraser Rise pays its rates to Melton, and the resident abutting the strip does the mowing, the weeding and the litter, tops up the soil and levels it out; the council has no mowing or watering program for strips. Grass is the only thing allowed on a strip without a landscaping application. Clippings are accepted by the green-lid FOGO bin, out fortnightly on the week the recycling stays in, at no extra charge.
