About Aintree
Rockbank North was announced in 2014 as 7,000 homes for 20,000 people, and Aintree is the part that got its own name three years later. Bacchus Marsh Grammar opened a Woodlea campus on Frontier Avenue in February 2019, Aintree Primary School followed in 2021, and Yarrabing Secondary College and Dharra School both opened in 2024. The parks are Frontier Park, Bullion Park, Arbourton Park, Wireless Park, Jackwood Park and Nugget Park. Aintree Recreation Reserve hosts the Melton Warriors rugby club and a 5 km parkrun every week, and on 26 October 2019 Frontier Park held a world-record attempt for the largest soccer lesson, 835 people on the grass.
The ground is the Rockbank plain: stone-strewn volcanic country whose rocks went into dry-stone paddock walls, with a rich red volcanic soil under them. Estate turf is rolled out over that after the earthworks, and a lawn laid in the last two years is still putting roots down through it. Cut it high through the first two summers. If the earthworks left a rock near the surface anywhere on your block, say where.
Aintree pays its rates to Melton. The strip outside your place is yours to mow and weed, to keep level and free of rubbish; Melton sends no mower and no water truck to strips, and planting it with anything beyond grass means a landscaping application beforehand. The green-lid FOGO bin collects clippings fortnightly, alternating with recycling, and is included in the rates.
