Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Bayswater lawn

  • Weekly FOGO means clippings can always go in the bin. Choose that option unless you want them mulched back in.
  • Knox does not restore grass on the strip. If yours is bare or rutted from parking, say so; a mower will edge it rather than scalp it.
  • Measure the side gate. Under 70 cm is push-mower only; tell the mower before they arrive.

Bayswater lawn mowing questions

How much does lawn mowing cost in Bayswater?+

For a 180 m² lawn our model reads $100 to $145 a mow. Your quotes are built on the aerial measurement of your block, so a lot with front and back lawn prices above that and a unit lawn below it.

Does Knox mow the nature strip in Bayswater?+

No. The council plants and maintains the street trees, and every other maintenance cost on the strip is the resident's. It will fix a hazardous path edge or a trip-hazard depression but will not restore grass. Add the strip to your listing and it is mown with the lawn.

Does Knox charge extra for the garden bin in Bayswater?+

Not for the first one. A 240 L green-lid FOGO bin is part of the standard residential waste charge, $434.55 in 2025-26, emptied weekly with a 50 kg limit. An additional 240 L FOGO bin costs $150.25 a year. You can opt out only by showing you compost at home.

About Bayswater

Settlement dates from the 1860s as part of Scoresby North. A school opened in a Lutheran building in 1874 and Bayswater primary in 1879; the post office was Scoresby North in 1882 and Macauley from 1884. The oldest structure is the Bayswater Wine Cellar, built in the mid-1800s for loggers on their way to the Dandenongs. Bayswater West primary opened in 1912 and Bayswater North in 1923.

German Templers released from wartime internment settled here in the late 1940s and built a community hall in 1961, the year Bayswater Secondary opened. Mountain High Plaza came in 2011. Bayswater Park is the main reserve and Mount Dandenong lies to the east. The suburb covers 7.9 square kilometres. Say what your lawn does in a wet July and a dry January.

Knox City Council plants and maintains the street trees and makes clear that every other cost of keeping the nature strip is the resident's; it does not restore grass on strips. Plantings must stay under 500 mm and no trees may be added. The green-lid food and garden bin has been weekly since 3 July 2023, with rubbish fortnightly, and a 240 L FOGO bin is included in the $434.55 residential waste charge for 2025-26. A second one is $150.25 a year.
