Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Bayswater North lawn

  • Backing onto Dandenong Creek or Bungalook Creek? Say whether the rear boundary is fenced and whether the lawn stays soft after a wet week.
  • Give the nearest cross street off Canterbury Road; it is the main arterial, and a cross street places you on a mower's round.
  • Maroondah empties FOGO every second week, so say whether the clippings are binned, mulched into the lawn or carried off.

Bayswater North lawn mowing questions

How much does lawn mowing cost in Bayswater North?+

Going by the guide, Bayswater North lands at $100-$145 each mow when the lawn is 180 m². The number a mower bids comes off the lawn traced on your aerial, so a house with grass at both ends of the block can measure past it.

What are the nature strip rules in Bayswater North?+

Maroondah owns the strip from your boundary out to the kerb, and residents keep it tidy. Changing it takes council approval, and a planting the council approves is the owner's to look after afterwards; the council plants the trees. No mowing height or fine is published, so tidy is the standard, and a mower can do it with the front lawn.

Does the creek matter for my lawn in Bayswater North?+

It can. Dandenong Creek is the southern boundary and Bungalook Creek the northern, and a lawn that runs to a creek reserve is edged against open ground rather than a fence. Say what the boundary is and whether the low end holds water; a lawn like that is mown a day or two after the rain, not during it.

About Bayswater North

Boonong, a homestead of about 1880, stood on Bayswater Road north of Bungalook Creek, and its subdivision of 1911 into five-acre blocks came with a Methodist church and hall in the plan. A primary school opened in 1923 at Canterbury and Bayfield roads. Industry came in 1956, when British Nylon Spinners built on Canterbury Road; the Fibremakers factory followed in 1963, now the Fibremakers Business Park, and the suburb is part of an industrial and commercial precinct employing over 35,000. The 1923 school closed in 1982 when a new one opened in the residential sector further east, and a post office lasted only from 1962 to 1964.

Canterbury Road is the main arterial and Bayswater station, on the Belgrave line, lies to the south-west. The two creeks are the only word on the ground; whether the land between them is flat or rolling is not written down, and the district stayed rural through the 1950s with no estate named for what came after. Canterbury Gardens is the main public reserve, beside the old school site, with the Canterbury Gardens shopping centre on Canterbury Road. Whether your block backs onto Dandenong Creek or Bungalook Creek, what the back lawn does after rain, the age of the house, which hints at the lawn layout, and the gate width: that is the listing.

Maroondah City Council is the council. The nature strip, its term for the ground from your front boundary to the kerb, is council-owned and residents must keep it tidy; nothing on it can be changed without approval, and once a planting is approved its ongoing upkeep is the owner's. New strip trees go in by the thousand each year. Garden and food waste go in the lime-green FOGO bin every second week, alternating with recycling, and garbage is collected weekly.
