Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Mont Albert North lawn

  • Kenmare Heights blocks from 1927 come with a century of beds; whether they sit above or below the lawn changes the edging.
  • Backing onto Koonung Creek or the linear parks, say if the rear boundary is fenced and if the lawn holds water.
  • No opt-in FOGO bin means clippings taken away; tick it when you list rather than leaving a pile by the bin.

Mont Albert North lawn mowing questions

How much does lawn mowing cost in Mont Albert North?+

The model's figure for a 180 m² Mont Albert North lawn is $110-$155 per cut. Your bid is priced on your own block's aerial outline, so it moves up with a back lawn and down with a courtyard.

What does the council expect of my nature strip in Mont Albert North?+

Mowing, weeding and litter pick-up, which Whitehorse describes as common practice for residents; the council owns the land, plants the street trees and prunes them. Keep it as grass and no permit is involved. Put the strip on the listing and the mower cuts both in one visit.

Which lawns in Mont Albert North are the old ones?+

The Kenmare Heights estate went on sale in 1927, so its blocks are the oldest; Koonung Heights primary opened on a former orchard in 1954 and the streets around it came with the post-war build. The soil under either is not something the page can tell you. What your lawn does in a wet week or a dry February is for you to tell the mower.

About Mont Albert North

Box Hill technical school opened here in 1943, now Box Hill Secondary College; the post office ran from an Access Road shop from 1 July 1957 until 1993; Koonung Secondary College dates from the mid-1960s. Koonung Creek is the western boundary, Elgar Road the eastern, Kenmare Street the southern and the Boroondara-Whitehorse municipal line the northern. Elgar Park in the north-east has the ovals and the miniature steam railway, there are linear parks throughout, and the Bushy Creek trail passes through Elgar Park to the Koonung Creek Linear Park. There is no rail: the Whitehorse Road tram is about 2 km off and Box Hill station about 1.5 km from the Elgar Road side.

An estate sold in 1927 and a school built on an orchard in 1954 put the blocks here at two ages, and the two do not mow alike: a 1920s lot has had close to a century of beds and paths cut into it, a post-war lot was laid out differently from the start. Which you have, and where the grass actually is, is the first thing for the listing. Koonung Creek on the western edge is the low ground; say if the back lawn runs towards it and how it drains. The former Chapel of St Joseph at 27-29 Strabane Avenue is on the Victorian Heritage Register, and the suburb covers 2.2 square kilometres.

Mont Albert North is City of Whitehorse throughout. The council's line is that it owns the strip and the trees on it, plants and maintains the trees, and that residents mow, weed and pick up litter on the grass as common practice; grass there needs no permit. A garden bin is not included in the rates. Whitehorse's lime-green-lid FOGO bin is a supplementary service at $75.00 (140 L) or $99.50 (240 L) for the 2026-27 year, and it is emptied every second week, on the week recycling stays home.
