Lawn mowing in Diamond Creek
Diamond Creek is a town on its creek, 23 kilometres out, that found gold in 1863, grew after the war and through the 1970s, and has been through bushfires from 1894 to 1969. The Hurstbridge line follows the creek north through it.

Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Diamond Creek lawn
- Say whether the block is lawn, rough grass or bush, and how big. Ride-on jobs are quoted on area.
- Book the pre-summer cut in October. November is the busiest month for mowers in Nillumbik.
- Creek-flat lawns: let them dry out after rain before they are mown.
Diamond Creek lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Diamond Creek?+
For a 180 m² lawn, $100-$145 a standard visit is the guide. Larger, rougher or steeper blocks quote over that, and acreage is priced by area with a ride-on.
What are the nature strip rules in Diamond Creek?+
In kerbed urban streets, residents may mow an exotic-grass strip. Indigenous plants on the strip are not to be touched without council permission. Fine fuels - dry grass, leaves, twigs, bark - may be removed from the road reserve to reduce the fire hazard.
Can I get a paddock or acreage cut here?+
Yes. List the full area, note how long the grass is, and mowers with a ride-on or slasher quote on that rather than on the 180 m² guide. The acreage guide explains the pricing.
About Diamond Creek
The housing is post-war and 1970s on blocks that get bigger and rougher the further you go from the station. Close in, near the shops and St John's church, there since about 1867, the lawns are ordinary suburban rectangles on a bit of a slope. Out toward Yarrambat, Wattle Glen and Kangaroo Ground they become bush blocks and small acreage, with grass that is pasture as much as lawn and a fire-season obligation to keep it short.
Soil is the north-east's well-drained loam, tree cover is heavy, and the creek flats hold water in winter. Buffalo and fescue do well under the gums; couch and kikuyu on the sunny blocks. Mowers here carry a trimmer and a blower as standard and quote on slope, access and grass length.
Shire of Nillumbik: residents may mow exotic-grass nature strips in urban kerbed streets and may clear fine fuels from the road reserve for fire safety. Indigenous vegetation on the strip stays. The pre-summer cut is the one to book early - every mower in the district is busy in November.
