About Coburg North
The Commission homes and the interwar bungalows here share a shape: a square front lawn, a concrete path down the side, a back yard that was meant for a Hills hoist and a vegetable bed. The lawns are old kikuyu and couch on basalt clay, dense, and easy to mow when they have been kept up. Where they have not been, a first cut of long grass and a bit of edging along the concrete brings them back quickly.
The three creeks matter more here than in most suburbs.
