Lawn mowing in Chadstone
Chadstone began as Carnegie North, bounded by Belgrave Road, Dandenong Road, Warrigal Road and Gardiners Creek, and the Good Shepherd convent of 1883 kept extensive paddocks here until the mid-1950s. The railway went along its northern edge in 1929-30; many of the houses came after the war.

Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Chadstone lawn
- A lawn that wraps around three sides of the house is a longer job than one at a single end; the aerial trace shows which.
- On the Scotchmans Creek side, say whether the back boundary is fenced and whether the lawn holds water after rain.
- Monash prunes every street tree itself; if one hangs over your strip, note it, but do not ask the mower to cut it.
Chadstone lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Chadstone?+
$105-$155 is our model's figure for one visit to a 180 m² Chadstone lawn. The mower's bid is built off your block's measured area, not off that average, so a post-war block with lawn front and rear can come in higher.
Who looks after the nature strip in Chadstone?+
You keep it mowed; the land is Monash's but the upkeep is the occupier's. The council's own crews prune the street trees, and planting anything on the strip takes a permit, is capped at 50 cm and leaves 1.4 m of path clear.
What is the soil like under a Chadstone lawn?+
There is no written description of the ground here, unlike the sandbelt suburbs further south. Whether your lawn dries out fast or stays soggy is yours to say when you list, and a photo of the lawn as it is today says more than a guess.
About Chadstone
Many of the houses were built in the post-war period from prefabricated concrete made on the site where Holmesglen Institute now stands. The primary school opened in 1953, the post office on 8 April 1957, and Myer's shopping centre in September 1960 with 33,000 m² of floor; by 2011 it ran to about 530 outlets. The suburb doubled by the early 1970s when it was extended east to Huntingdale Road, and by the 1990s the postcode stopped at Warrigal Road, so the streets west of it are Malvern East. The name came from Chadstone Road in Malvern East, laid out in 1912-13, which probably took it from a church north of the Malvern Hills in England.
Scotchmans Creek runs along the southern boundary and the Glen Waverley line along the northern; the western edge is Warrigal Road and the eastern is Huntingdale Road. No park is named for the suburb and the ground is not described, so the listing has to carry it: whether the lawn is front, back or both, whether a creek-side back fence takes leaf and water, and how the mower gets around the side of the house; the aerial measurement does the rest. The strip is Monash land that the household keeps mowed, and the council's green-lid organics bin, 240 L, has been picked up weekly since August 2022, with landfill and recycling alternating fortnightly.
