Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Burnside lawn
- If your back fence is on the Kororoit Creek Trail, ask for the grass along it kept short through summer and say whether the fence is solid.
- A 1990s lawn that has missed a month in spring is a catch-up job. Say when it was last cut.
- Under 70 cm the side gate turns the job into a push-mower one, so measure it.
Burnside lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Burnside?+
Burnside's medium lawn, 180 m² of grass, reads $100-$145 in the model. Mowers bid on the area the aerial shows for your own block, and a thirty-year-old lawn left through spring is quoted as a first cut rather than a regular one.
Who looks after the nature strip in Burnside?+
The resident. Melton's local law puts regular mowing, weeding, litter and levelling on the person whose property the strip abuts, and the council leaves both the mower and the hose to you. Tick the strip on the listing and it comes off in the same visit as the lawn.
Is long grass near Kororoit Creek a problem in Burnside?+
The creek supports tiger snakes and eastern brown snakes. A block backing onto the trail is better mown short along the rear boundary in the warm months, and a mower needs to know before walking into long grass there. Say so in the listing.
About Burnside
The streets went in during the 1990s, so the turf has had close to thirty summers to root into the plain. A lawn of that age is dense by October and slows to a crawl through the cold months. Under it is the district's basalt and alluvial plain, cut by creeks that drain toward the Werribee River. The 2021 census counted 5,800 people.
Kororoit Creek is the thing to mention when you list. The creek supports tiger snakes and eastern brown snakes as well as blue-tongued lizards, snake-necked turtles and banjo frogs, plus two endangered species, the growling grass frog and the striped legless lizard. A back fence on the Kororoit Creek Trail is a reason to keep the grass along it short from November on, and to say whether the fence is solid or open.
Burnside is City of Melton. The resident keeps the strip: mowing, weeds, litter, topping up soil where it has sunk and levelling any trip hazard. Melton itself neither mows nor waters strips, wants an application lodged before anything other than grass goes in, and will not fix ruts that parked cars leave in it. Clippings can go in the FOGO bin with the green lid, emptied every second week opposite the recycling, at nothing extra on the rates.
