Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Tarneit lawn
- Tell the mower the month your turf was laid. Under two years, it is a different cut.
- The nature strip is not assumed. Include it if you want it done.
- Site dust off a build next door blunts blades, and dropped fill changes the price.
Tarneit lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Tarneit?+
About $100-$145 each time, on 180 m² of lawn. Turf under two years old is cut higher and quoted as its own kind of job, so say when it was laid, and add the nature strip to the listing if you want it done in the same visit.
Does Wyndham mow the nature strip in Tarneit?+
No. The grass on it is the resident's under the council's local law, capped at 30 cm, and the council cuts only hazards. A street tree on the strip is the council's job and may not be pruned by a resident.
My new lawn looks worse than next door's. Why?+
Usually the turf's age rather than the care. Shallow roots on compacted clay is the first-two-summers problem out here. Mow at 60-70 mm, water deeply and rarely, and aerate in the second spring - the patchy lawn guide has the sequence.
About Tarneit
Estates have gone in more or less continuously for twenty years - Marigold, Verdant Hill, The Grove, Riverdale Village, Westbrook, Rose Grange and about twenty more - so the turf on one street went down five years ago and on the next it went down in autumn. A first-summer lawn and a tenth-summer lawn are different jobs at the same size, so tell a mower which one you have.
New instant turf goes onto construction fill and compacted clay, which stops the roots getting down. The trade fix at laying is 50 mm of topsoil and gypsum; afterwards it is height, 60 to 70 millimetres of leaf through summer for the first couple of years. Clay that gets scalped in February bakes and cracks. By the third summer it mows like any other lawn.
The name is thought to come from a Wathaurong word for white. Tarneit is Wyndham City; the station opened in 2015 with the Regional Rail Link, Wyndham Village dates from 2005 and Tarneit Central from 2017, and Skeleton and Dry creeks cross what is otherwise flat, open, almost treeless ground.
