Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Dingley Village lawn
- Backing onto one of the three golf courses? Say what comes over the fence and whether the boundary is solid.
- The suburb is nearly 8 km² across; give the nearest main road so a mower can place you on a round.
- A fortnightly bin fills fast in October; say whether the mower should mulch clippings in or take them.
Dingley Village lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Dingley Village?+
Dingley Village's 180 m² guide runs $105-$150 on each visit. Bids are priced on your own block's aerial measurement, and a block with lawn at the front and the back can land above that.
Can I put a garden on my Dingley Village nature strip?+
Only a low one. Kingston limits strip plantings to 0.5 metres, half a metre clear of the kerb, and the trees on the strip are council-owned, pruned every two years; you can request one but not plant one. Mowing and watering what is left stays with you.
My block backs onto Braeside Park in Dingley Village. What should I say?+
Braeside Park runs along the south of the suburb, next to Kingston's green wedge. Say whether the back boundary is a solid fence or open to the park, what comes over it, and whether the lawn at that end stays wet after rain. That sets the edging and the day the mower picks.
About Dingley Village
Christ Church went up in 1873 at Centre and Old Dandenong Roads and the post office opened on 21 July 1913. About 1920 the Gartside brothers opened a cannery employing up to 50 and gave the land for the primary school, opened in 1925 at Centre Dandenong and Marcus Roads; Kingswood Golf Club opened its course in 1936. Population went from 450 to 1,800 between 1960 and 1964 as the streets went in, with a Catholic primary in 1974 and Kingswood primary in 1976. The name became Dingley Village in 1991, and the district joined Kingston on 15 December 1994. None of those dates says what the ground under your lawn is made of.
Dingley Village is 7.9 square kilometres between Springvale South and Moorabbin Airport, next to Kingston's green wedge, with Braeside Park along the south and the Mornington Peninsula Freeway separating the houses from the industrial zone near the airport. Souter and Corrigan Oval, the recreation reserve acquired in 1954, the library and Harold Box Hall are the public ground, and golf is at Peninsula Kingswood, Southern and the Spring Park public course. Kingston expects the resident to keep the strip mown and watered, prunes its trees every two years, and sends a mower only to a strip that has become a hazard; plantings stay under 0.5 metres. Clippings go out in the green-lid bin, standard here, every second week, when the recycling stays home.
