Lawn mowing in Camberwell

Camberwell grew with the railway in the 1880s - five stations now, and trams 70, 72 and 75 - and its Victorian and Edwardian houses sit on generous original blocks along hilly east-west streets with views back to the city.

Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Camberwell lawn

  • Say whether the front lawn is terraced and how the back garden steps down. Slope is trimmer work.
  • Describe the edging - beds, brick paths, hedge lines. It is most of the visit.
  • Boroondara leaves the strip entirely to you. Include it when you list.

Camberwell lawn mowing questions

How much does lawn mowing cost in Camberwell?+

For a 180 m² lawn, $115-$160 a standard visit is the guide. If yours is a terraced garden on one of the hilly streets, the edging and slope push quotes over it; a townhouse lawn near the Junction comes in under.

Does Boroondara mow nature strips in Camberwell?+

No. Boroondara does not mow, water or spray nature strips; it expects the strip outside your property to be kept by you and looks after the street trees.

Is a sloping front lawn a problem?+

No, but it is slower. Terraces and retaining walls mean trimming along every edge; say so when you list and the quotes allow the time.

About Camberwell

A Camberwell lawn is a garden lawn on a slope. The period houses face streets that run up and down hill, so front lawns are terraced behind a hedge or a brick wall and back gardens step down through beds and lawn to a rear fence. The blocks are generous - many still their original size - and the gardens have been kept for a century. Around the Junction and Burke Road there are apartments and townhouses with small lawns and common areas.

Good loam, mature trees, hedges everywhere: couch on the open lawns, buffalo and fescue in shade. The mowing is the quick part; the edging along beds, brick paths and hedge lines, and the trimming on a terraced slope, are what a Camberwell visit is priced on. Frog Hollow, Fordham Gardens, Lynden Park and Riversdale Park are the open spaces.

City of Boroondara does not mow, water or spray nature strips; residents mow the strip outside their property, and the council manages the street trees. The lime-green-lid FOGO bin takes the clippings and is collected weekly. The Fresh Food Market has been at the Junction since 1929 and the Sunday market since 1976.
