Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Vermont South lawn

  • An estate lawn that runs down to Dandenong Creek or a park edge is edged against open ground unless it is fenced.
  • 1980s blocks with a lawn on the side as well as front and back: say how the mower gets around, and the gate width.
  • Choose clippings taken away unless you pay for the fortnightly FOGO bin.

How much does lawn mowing cost in Vermont South?+

Our model has $105-$155 a visit against a 180 m² lawn in Vermont South. The estate blocks measure differently one from the next, and the bid is made off the aerial of yours.

Whose job is the nature strip in Vermont South?+

The resident's, in practice. Whitehorse owns it and looks after the street trees, and calls it common practice for residents to mow and weed it and keep it clear of litter. Add the strip to the listing and the mower takes it in the same trip.

Is a Vermont South lawn different from an older suburb's?+

The streets date from 1968 to the 1980s, so the turf is younger than in Forest Hill or the Blackburns and has had fewer decades of beds and paths cut into it. Say what your own lawn does in February and after a wet week, and if it was relaid recently ask for a 60-70 mm cut.

About Vermont South

Thickly timbered bushland was first surveyed in 1855 by Clement Hodgkinson. John Lobb laid out a village called Norwich around Morack Road in 1862, with a market square, a church at each corner and a cemetery on Canterbury Road, and it failed. Orchards took over by the 1880s and peaked between 1930 and 1939; Nunawading Council bought orchard land for Bellbird Dell in 1966. Then the estates: Burwood Rise between Livingstone and Stanley Roads from 1968 to 1971, display homes along Burwood Highway and Springvale Road from 1969 into the 1970s, and the 1980s estates, Hanover Holdings alone developing more than 800 blocks around Hanover Road, Mellissa Grove, Chablis Crescent, Hartland Road, Delacombe Drive and Woodleigh Crescent.

The streets date from 1968 to the late 1980s. Dandenong Creek is the eastern boundary. The open ground is Billabong Park, Terrara Park, Bellbird Dell, the Morack public golf course and a lookout on the former council tip. The shopping centre opened in 1974 at Burwood Highway and Hanover Road, the route 75 tram was extended to it in 2005, and the schools came with the streets: Holy Saviour 1977, Livingstone primary 1978, Emmaus College 1980. Blocks near the creek are the ones to describe for drainage.

City of Whitehorse holds the nature strip, plants and maintains the street trees, and says residents keep the lawn on it mown, weeded and clear of litter as common practice; grass needs no permit and anything else does. The garden bin is opt-in. A lime-green-lid FOGO bin costs $75.00 a year at 140 L or $99.50 at 240 L in 2026-27 and goes out fortnightly, on the week recycling does not, so a house without one needs the clippings taken away.
