Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Wantirna South lawn
- Harcrest went in from 2014 on the old Austral Bricks quarry. Say the year your turf went down.
- Studfield has been the post office's name since 1990, not a suburb. Give the street and nearest cross street rather than the locality.
- Knox's 50 kg bin limit is easy to hit with wet spring clippings. Ask for the excess mulched or taken away.
Wantirna South lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Wantirna South?+
A 180 m² lawn is $105-$150 per visit in our model. A block with front and back lawn can measure over that and a unit lawn under. Bids are priced off your own block's aerial measurement.
Do I mow the nature strip in Wantirna South?+
Yes. Knox plants and maintains the street trees, and every other maintenance cost on the strip is yours; the council will not restore grass. It mows roadside reserves along main roads and reserve frontages, not house frontages. List the strip with the lawn.
My lawn is in Harcrest. Anything different?+
Harcrest was laid out in 2014, 840 lots on the old Austral Bricks quarry, with the lake, parks and apartments in its newer parts. Give the year your turf went down. A lawn still in its first two summers is cut at 60-70 mm, never more than about a third of the leaf in one go.
About Wantirna South
A mail service came with the locality in 1928; the post office followed and was renamed Studfield in 1990. Agricultural research stations were set up in 1956. Housing demand grew from the 1920s and the suburb became a major post-war development area, 13.4 square kilometres of it. The council offices were rebuilt after a fire in 1994. Population was 17,487 in 2002.
Westfield Knox City is the shopping centre, past 350 shops by 2010. The Harcrest estate, 840 lots laid out in 2014 on the former Austral Bricks quarry, has a lake, parks and apartments in the newer parts. That the ground was worked for bricks is a fact about one site, not about your street. Which streets sit wet is for you to tell the mower.
Knox City Council plants and maintains the street trees and leaves every other cost of the nature strip to the resident, without restoring grass. Plantings are capped at 500 mm and trees are not allowed. Food and garden waste goes in the green-lid bin weekly, rubbish fortnightly since 3 July 2023; a 240 L FOGO bin is part of the $434.55 residential waste charge for 2025-26, a second is $150.25 a year, and the weekly limit is 50 kg.
