Before you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Dromana lawn

  • The hillside streets sit on the lower slopes of Arthurs Seat, so the side of the freeway you are on, and how much the lawn falls, sets the job.
  • If the house stands empty for stretches, say how long the grass has been left and how the mower gets in.
  • A block that touches the State Park boundary or a vineyard fence has bark, leaf and long grass along that edge, and that is extra trimming; mention it.

Dromana lawn mowing questions

How much does lawn mowing cost in Dromana?+

Our model's Dromana figure is $100-$145 a cut for 180 m² of lawn. A block on the slope can come in above that for the trimming; the bid itself comes from the aerial of your own lot.

Does the Shire empty a green bin in Dromana?+

Only if you have opted in. The 240 L green-lid food and green waste bin is $178 a year in 2025-26, urban area only, emptied fortnightly alternating with the recycling, 70 kg limit. Without one, choose clippings mulched in or taken away when you list.

Which part of Dromana is hilly?+

The lower slopes of Arthurs Seat, where substantial housing had been built by the 1970s, and generally the hillside side of the freeway. The streets between Point Nepean Road and the foreshore reserve are the seaside side. The hill itself is mostly State Park bush apart from the quarry. Say on the listing how much your lawn falls and whether a mower reaches the back along the side.

About Dromana

The Boonwurrung name was Kangerrong. Hugh Jamieson bought eight square miles at Safety Beach under the 1841 Special Survey, the first Crown subdivision came in 1854, the post office opened on 12 April 1858 and the town was proclaimed in February 1861. Timber cut on Arthurs Seat went into piers, and produce from Red Hill and Main Ridge shipped out over the Dromana pier. Heronswood was built in 1871 at the foot of the hill in Dromana West, and a road to the summit opened in 1929. Cars in the 1920s brought a Progress Association selling building allotments, some on a subdivided orchard, alongside foreshore camping; a bushfire took several buildings in 1939.

By the 1970s there was substantial housing on the lower slopes of Arthurs Seat, and the Mornington Peninsula Freeway went through, to some extent separating seaside Dromana from hillside Dromana. The State Park has kept much of the hillside bush apart from a quarry on its eastern flank; east of the freeway is rural Dromana, with more than 22 vintners. The shopping strip on Point Nepean Road faces a slender foreshore reserve that widens into Latrobe Reserve, with calm, sandy beaches and camping. The old racecourse site east of town was split in 1966 between a technical school and a second recreation reserve, and Dromana Secondary College absorbed the technical school in 1988.

Dromana is Mornington Peninsula Shire, whose position is that the nature strip is the homeowner's or tenant's to mow, edge, weed and keep clear of litter. Street trees the Shire planted are the Shire's; any other landscaping or a tree removal on the strip needs a permit. The green-lid 240 L food and green waste bin is emptied fortnightly, the week the recycling is not collected, and costs $178 a year in 2025-26 as an opt-in service for the urban area, with a 70 kg limit. The heritage-listed drive-in on Nepean Highway opened in 1961.
