Lawn mowing in Meadow Heights
Meadow Heights was open country called Broadmeadows North until the Housing Commission took it up and started building in 1975 as Westmeadows Heights. It was gazetted as a suburb of its own in late 1994.

Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Meadow Heights lawn
- Give the build decade. A 1977 Commission street and a 1990s Urban Land Authority street are different blocks with different gates.
- The ground rises northwards from Broadmeadows. Mention any slope on the front or back lawn so the mower brings the right gear.
- The green bin is fortnightly, 140 or 240 L. On a big cut say whether clippings are binned or left as mulch.
Meadow Heights lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Meadow Heights?+
Between $100 and $145 for one cut on a 180 m² lawn in our model. The bid comes off your own measured lawn, plus whatever a slope, the gate width and the nature strip add.
Am I responsible for the nature strip in Meadow Heights?+
Yes, under Hume's Residential Nature Strip Policy: regular mowing, edging, weeding and litter removal on all sides of the property. Council only steps in to make safe after damage by its own vehicle or a significant hazard, and it does not lay turf or take over mowing.
My Meadow Heights lawn slopes. Does that change the price?+
It can. The land rises northwards from Broadmeadows across the suburb, and how much of that rise one lawn carries varies block by block. Put the slope on the listing, front or back, so the mower brings the right machine. A bid is priced off the measured area with the slope and the gate width on top.
About Meadow Heights
The Commission had already built the Coolaroo estate next door between 1966 and 1972. Westmeadows Heights primary opened in 1977 and Bethal primary in 1979, and by 1982 the area was counted as part of Coolaroo. The Urban Land Authority bought 230 ha in 1986. The shopping centre opened in November 1993, the post office on 6 March 1995, and the streets were completed through the 1990s. Coolaroo station, to the south-east, opened in 2010. Say which decade your street was built.
Somerton Road is the northern boundary, Pascoe Vale Road the eastern, Barry Road the southern, and Broadmeadows Valley Park the western. The suburb sits south-east of Greenvale Reservoir, where the land gradually rises northwards from Broadmeadows, and the name says the same thing. The Shankland Wetlands are on the park side. How much of that rise a particular front lawn carries is something only the listing can say.
Hume City Council maintains no nature strips in front of houses. Its policy has the resident doing the regular mowing, edging and weeding, and council doing works only to make a hazard safe, such as a sight line at a corner or a blocked footpath. Nature-strip plantings are capped at 400 mm in the landscaping guidelines; grass itself carries no figure. Every household got a green-lid food and garden bin with a kitchen caddy between April and June 2024, emptied fortnightly on the alternate week to recycling, and the cost sits inside the standard waste charge.
