About Hampton Park
A post office opened on 22 November 1920 and a school on 5 February 1922; the original one-room schoolhouse survives. Electricity came in 1942. Reticulated water arrived in 1961, and that made a Housing Commission estate possible in the early 1970s. Expansion east of Hallam Road followed in the 1980s: a secondary college in 1986, the shopping centre enlarged in 1987 to two supermarkets and 44 shops, St Kevin's Catholic primary relocated in 1990 and two more primaries through the 1990s. The Lynbrook estate next door began in 1994.
The suburb is bounded by the South Gippsland Freeway to the west, Centre Road to the north and Glasscocks Road to the south, 14 square kilometres in all. Robert Booth Reserve is here, and the town centre and a resource-recovery precinct sit on Hallam Road. Lyndhurst station is about a kilometre away. Say which side of Hallam Road you are on and roughly when the house went up.
Hampton Park is City of Casey. The council owns the nature strips but says urban strips are the property owner's or occupier's to manage and maintain; it publishes no grass-height figure, and overgrown grass is covered by the Casey Community Local Law 2025, in force since 2 March 2026. The green-lid food and garden bin is emptied fortnightly, standard for all residential properties by 2026, and urban street trees are pruned by council on a three-year cycle.
