Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Strathtulloh lawn
- Give the street and the turf's laying date; together they tell a mower more than the suburb name does.
- A back lawn on a new block can be a strip of turf one mower wide. Photograph it so the bid matches the job.
- Under two summers old, ask for a high cut and the clippings removed.
Strathtulloh lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Strathtulloh?+
For a Strathtulloh lawn of 180 m², the model answers $100-$145 for each cut. New-estate lawns often come in smaller, and the bid follows your own block's aerial measurement.
Who maintains the nature strip in Strathtulloh?+
The resident, under Melton's local law: mowing, weeding, litter, topping up soil, levelling, all on a regular basis. Council mowers and council water never reach a strip, and one that parked cars have rutted is not repaired.
What ground is a Strathtulloh lawn on?+
The plain between Toolern Creek and the Werribee River that the 1840s Strathtulloh and Exford homesteads ran stock on: undulating basalt and alluvial country. Instant turf laid over it is kept high for its first two summers.
About Strathtulloh
William Scott Harkness managed Strathtulloh in the later 1800s, and the homestead stands with Exford as one of the district's pastoral properties from the 1840s. Toolern Park, 100 hectares along Bridge Road with an athletics track and a sports field, spans the boundary with Cobblebank. The 2021 census counted 3,997 people.
A lawn here is instant turf on the same undulating basalt and alluvial plain the homestead's stock grazed. Turf under two summers old is still rooting in: the mower stays at 60-70 mm until then, and a third of the leaf is the most it removes in a cut. The council is Melton. The strip falls to the resident to mow, weed, top up, level and keep clear of litter, Melton's own crews do no mowing or watering on strips, and a planting other than grass needs a landscaping application first. Clippings are fine in Melton's green-lid FOGO bin, at no additional charge; it goes out every second week, in the recycling's off week.
