Claim a founding seatBefore you list: three things worth telling a mower about a Weir Views lawn
- The estate, one of four, and the year the house went up tell the mower the age of the turf.
- On a first-summer lawn ask that the clippings leave with the mower, not lie in clumps on turf still knitting.
- Photograph the back lawn as well as the front; on a new block the two are often very different in size.
Weir Views lawn mowing questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Weir Views?+
Weir Views' 180 m² lawn works out to $100-$145 on each visit in the model. A mower bids on your block as the aerial measures it, and a new-estate back lawn well under 180 m² is quoted below that.
Is the nature strip mine to mow in Weir Views?+
It is. Under Melton's local law the resident with the strip out front keeps it cut, weeded, clear of rubbish and level, and the council runs no mowing of its own on strips. Tick the strip too and one trip covers it.
How high should a new Weir Views lawn be cut?+
60 to 70 mm for the first two summers, taking no more than a third off in a single cut. Turf laid in the last two summers is still tying itself into the ground, and cut short in January it browns off.
About Weir Views
Simon Staughton started where Toolern Creek runs into the Werribee River in 1846, and by 1860 his Exford estate ran to 28,400 hectares south of Melton township; one of the four estates here carries the name. St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School sits in Exford Waters as a branch of St Anthony of Padua in Melton South, and Opalia has the shopping centre, with a Woolworths, a Chemist Warehouse and a McDonald's. The 2021 census counted 4,348 people and a 2023 estimate put it at 4,375 to 4,390.
Four estates means four ages of instant turf on undulating basalt and alluvial plain. A lawn laid this year or last is still rooting: hold it high through two summers. An older stage may be past that and ready for a normal height. Name the estate and the year, and the mower knows which it is before arriving.
Weir Views is City of Melton, where the strip is the resident's job from the mowing to the litter to the levelling, and where council crews neither mow nor water strips. Wanting anything but grass on it? Lodge a landscaping application first. Lawn clippings suit the green-lid FOGO bin, emptied every other week when the recycling is not, at no cost on top of the rates.
